Last week I was at BIJ57, a gift slash coffee slash lunch shop in Voorschoten. Believe it or not, there was a reason for it other than their deadly buttercake with salted caramel (check image below). I was there to drop off my brand new cards and restock the older ones! The owner is my former ‘colleague’ and she started her own shop last fall. Starting from scratch, building the beautiful shop it is now with lots of products from creative makers and vintage finds. Back in October I had the pleasure to help out a bit with the decoration. I painted a big ass logo on the wall, lettered the windows and designed the menu.
I started with the lettering on the windows and accidentally made a selfie. Hi there.
I used a beamer to project the image of the logo on the wall, but since the shop is quite narrow and the logo very big, I had to divide the projection into 4 pieces and then shift to fit them all together while I was painting. It took me forever, but I love the end result.
That was then, this is now. My recipe posters are there on display and you can take a – handmade – card with you to order yours at home. There’s a chalkboard weekplanner and a whole bunch of postcards, including the brand new ones that are in the shop section here now as well.
You’ll find BIJ57 in Voorschoten at Schoolstraat 57. There’s a nice video interview (in Dutch) with SiuLing about her shop on their website. It gives a good impression and it also shows one of my cards (the hand printed beetle!) > www.bij57.nl
If you are ever in the area, drop by for a chat and have yourself a piece of that delicious buttercake and a strong cup of coffee!
