January is a slow month. Every friggin’ year. And instead of enjoying the extra time I have, I start to worry. So I thought I would outsmart myself this time and give myself January off. Well, off….?
With all this sorting stuff out, I also felt I had to update my Etsy shop, especially in the looks department. And while I was at it I added the lazy swim lady screen print! Come have a look.

The other day I was scrolling through the beautiful illustrations of Eleni Debo’s Instagram. The short bio on top of her page read ‘Belgian illustrator living and working in the Italian Alps’. What the… I needed to speak to this lady.
There have been a couple of illustrations I made in the last 12 months I was particularly happy with. And if I put these all together, I can see there’s a similarity between them: the use of color, the texture and the shapes. I guess I found my style.
Now it’s nearly Christmas and most of our friends and family have received our holiday wishes, I think it’s safe to show you what I made. And what went wrong…

While treasure hunting in Dordrecht I picked up this quartets game in a red and green cardboard sleeve. Looking at the color and the design of it, I never expected to find inside what I did. It is now one of my dearest illustration inspiration finds.
A few weeks ago I spent my entire Sunday in Adobe Illustrator, learning the program a bit better while making illustrations for billboards. Since I tend to go into detail too much, these clear lines and shapes were kind of liberating.
