For illustrated recipe posters the end of the year is usually the busiest time, with family gifts needed for the holidays. But sometimes people know how to find me in spring as well. I was lucky enough to get a whole bunch of requests last month. You may have seen some of the results on Instagram. One of the requests was to make three recipe posters as a gift for three departing colleagues. There was one order via Etsy and the other one came in here after she had seen my posters at BIJ57 (I wrote about BIJ57 in the previous post). I’ll stop talking and show you a bit of the process and the end results!
As you may know by now, I always start with a quick & ugly sketch to figure out what shapes I am working with. Here’s the very first ‘thinking on paper’ for the three recipes below.
The one below is someone’s mom’s secret cookie recipe. Well, was…. I’m terrible at keeping secrets, apparently. This customer ordered hers as a gift for her mom on white drawing paper. This gives the illustration a different look, more modern and the colors are brighter on white. The recipes above were all on vintage paper, which gives it extra character if you ask me. All the pieces of paper are unique: the size, the color and the rugged edges…
Are you curious what your favorite recipe would look like? You can order your own, it’s easy. Just shoot me a message and let me know the title, the ingredients and the directions of your recipe. And before you know it you’ll have your own unique recipe poster.
I also updated drawmyrecipe.com with a few new recipe posters and a lovely review I received today!
